Listed Floor Structure Repair

The repair of a severely degraded ground floor structure of a Listed terraced shop. MLDE provided comprehensive Engineering duties for the project including obtaining Listed Building Consent and undertaking the Principal Designer Contract Administrator Roles.

MLDE were initially commissioned to complete a structural survey of the existing timber ground floor structure, which was situated above a basement. This revealed significant deterioration to the existing timber structure.

MLDE’s designed a sympathetic design scheme to sequentially repair the ground floor structure whilst maintaining the stability of the surrounding structures.

The project utilised traditional oak material, and retained the existing principal beam elements, whilst replacing the heavily degraded secondary floor joists.
