Manufactured from one single, 11.4m long section of oak balanced on a stainless steel base, this elegant table was engineered for the London Design Festival in 2011. Although it gives the impression of a fine balance on the relatively slim base section, this table is capable of supporting the weight of four people standing at one end by utilising a series of bespoke compression rods.
The form of the design was inspired by a living tree itself, with the sturdy base planting the table like roots, while the compression rods above branch out to support the canopy of the table.
