Icarus Rising

MLDE were commissioned by Nicola Godden to design a steel armature for a sculpture titled Icarus Rising. The 5m high bronze works depicts the mythological Icarus suspended from his wings on either side.

The steel plate armature is formed to the curvature of the wings and anchors the sculpture to a concrete base below ground, allowing people to walk directly through the sculpture.
